Responses to Office Actions that are submitted via TEAS are automatically loaded into TRADEUPS so that the changes proposed by the applicant can quickly and easily be reviewed and accepted or declined. To do this, open TRADEUPS by clicking the icon on your desktop that looks like this:
Enter your employee number and password. You're in Tradeups! In order to see the responses to office actions (ROAs) that have been received on your cases, select File and then Open from the top menu. First, select "Response received (all)," and hit "OK." You can now see all of the application responses submitted via TEAS. You may choose ANY of the cases that appear in the list by double-clicking on the employee number in the left-most column. Now, to get to see only YOUR cases, simply click the "Open By Employee Number" button at the bottom of the screen. Any cases that were assigned to you in TRAM at the time the response was received and which such response has not been completed will appear on a list. The cases are sorted in columns by (from left to right) employee number, date and time received, Serial number, Mark, and Sequence number. See below. Clicking on the top box of any of these columns will resort it in ascending or descending order.
To accept or decline an amendment on a case, find it in the list, click the employee number in the 1st column on the left that corresponds to that case (if you open Response rec'd (employee) all those numbers will be yours) and click the OK button. An interface will open that lists each of the data fields that the applicant has proposed changing in red, with current (or original) data listed in black and the proposed right below it in blue. You simply click on each of the set of four asterisks that appear on the right side of the screen, which will turn into a box with a pull down menu that reads ACCEPT and DECLINE. Click on whichever of these is appropriate. ACCEPT should be used more often than not. It merely tells the computer to take that proposed data and enter it in TRAM. DECLINE keeps the current data as is in TRAM and is generally used only for those proposed changes that are not permitted under the TMEP, for example, material alterations to marks, changes in ownership without assignments, modifications to the identification of goods or recitation of services that are outside of the scope, etc.
After you have accepted or declined each item, simply click the button at the bottom that says UPLOAD and TRADEUPS will load the accepted items in TRAM and ignore the declined items. Proposed changes to a stylized mark work the same way, except the ACCEPT/DECLINE box appears in the top right corner of the screen. See below.
